International Ibn Khaldun Society
After the 1st International Ibn Khaldun Symposium, organized in Istanbul in 2006, the participants had decided to establish the International Ibn Khaldun Society. Prof. Recep Şentürk (Fatih University, Istanbul) has been selected as the Chair of the Society, and Prof. Farid Alatas (National University of Singapore, Singapore) becomes Co-Chair of the Society. Since its foundation, the International Ibn Khaldun Society had published the proceedings of the 1st symposium in English and Turkish. Also, one of the major duties of the Society is the organization of an international symposium every three year. Accordingly, the Society organized the 2nd International Ibn Khaldun Society in May 2009, Istanbul. Apart from the organization of symposia, the Society tries to display the possibility of a different understanding of social science than the current Western social science discourse. Thus, the Society tries to prove this fact with its own activities. Within this context, the International Ibn Khaldun Society will organize every three year a symposium. Other than the symposia, the society seeks to provide the intellectual bases while participating at the international conferences and panels on social sciences to establish the alternative social science discourse |
